Androids in the Woods

Nowadays, our online presence is as important as our physical presence, and as a result our corporeality assumes a secondary role. The Androids in the Woods project is the outcome of an art residence Amengual took in the forest in Finland, during which he created a Tinder profile in order to contact other users located in the vicinity. Some he also met and photographed, with the aim of drawing attention to the contrast between physical and virtual relationships. This project encourages us to reflect on the ways in which the digital revolution has deprived many of our human interactions of their corporeality.

Toni Amengual (1980, Mallorca, Spain) is an artist, photographer and visual educator who focuses on human beings and their interactions with the world.
