Once again, Cortona On The Move and the Etruscan museum in Cortona (MAEC) have officially renewed their collaboration launched in 2021 with the aim of enhancing and promoting the museum’s extraordinary heritage through the language of photography.
This time, photographers Giulia Parlato and Giovanna Petrocchi have been commissioned to explore the collection from the perspective of the MAEC’s initiative Sentinels of Beauty – festival: Female Guardians of Cultural Heritage, linked to the COTM theme Body of Evidence. The results of their investigations will illustrate how women have been represented in figurative art over the centuries.
Giulia Parlato (1993, Palermo, Italy) analyzes the historical use of images as documents of truth, particularly their scientific and forensic use. Her work is held in public and private collections.
Giovanna Petrocchi (1988, Rome, Italy) creates imaginary documents by combining personal photographs with archival images, collages, and 3D printing processes. Her work has been exhibited in a number of international exhibitions.
