Failed postcards from Napoli
Canadian photographer Kourtney Roy developed this project in 2025, during an artist residency at the Spot Home Gallery in Naples. Relying on self-portraiture, the photographer stages herself, becoming the eccentric protagonist of stories whose plots are left to our imagination.
In each shot, Kourtney Roy becomes an exaggerated figure, forced out of context, capable of creating a rupture with the city. Her doubles emerge from the spaces through friction, giving shape to identities that are both strong and vulnerable. Naples is alive even when it is shown to us deserted. Roy’s performative photography proves that Naples is a space capable of hosting infinite provocations and interpretations.
