Songs of a Lost World
Specially conceived for Cortona On The Move, by the Turin-based artistic duo Botto&Bruno is a large-scale wallpaper installation created using the hand-collaged technique, a hallmark of their practice. For this site-specific work, curated by Carola Allemandi, approximately 900 photographs were used: the two artists recreated an imaginary panorama by combining fragments of Italian urban suburbs from their archives with others from the industrial archaeology of Marghera, photographed by the artists in 1997, to create a plausible world, yet one imbued with memories of truly past eras.
Botto&Bruno pose a question for the times we live in: will the architecture of the present be able to persist in memory, or will they simply be facades devoid of history and life?
