In the 1960s, Finland experienced an exceptionally fast migration of people from rural areas to cities. As people were used to sharing their everyday lives with domesticated and wild animals, Finns preserved a unique relationship with their animal friends. “Fellow Creatures” reflects how men and animals can coexist and build connections in daily life and through dark times.
Aleksi Poutanen (Mikkeli, Finland, 1985) is a commercial and documentary photographer. He’s fascinated by uncanny and surprising subjects and has a playful approach to his photography. He has a Bachelor of Graphic Design from the Kuopio Academy of Design (Finland).
