Otsuchi Future Memories

In 2011, an unprecedented tsunami destroyed the fishing town of Otsuchi, Japan. While the material damage was undeniably severe, the survivors also faced the intangible loss of their memories and identities. “Otsuchi Future Memories” visually documents this destruction and loss. It connects survivors’ portraits with family photographs, to reflect the dynamic relationship between photographs and our memories when such tragedies happen.
