Milan at the edges

The exhibition Milano ai bordi, conceived for Cortona On The Move, is a dialogue between the images taken between the 1970s and 1980s by Gabriele Basilico and those by Angelo Leonardo, taken from the project Le Monde Ou Rien (2019-2023). The exhibition weaves a unique connection between a great photographer and an original voice on the contemporary scene, providing a new visual interpretation of the evolution of Milan’s most marginal areas.
Through Basilico’s and Leonardo’s black-and-white images, the exhibition recounts the great urban and social transformation that Milan’s outskirts have undergone, as well as the role of places in this process: veritable active presences, as well as meaningful backdrops, of these very changes.
