Michaël Zumstein
Aka Zidane

Aka Zidane is a photographic project about today’s Africa, seen through the prism of the soccer jersey, worn every day by thousands of young men and women. The costume of a contemporary hero.
It stems from 15 years documenting Africa for the press, and its aim is to question the usual, to sublimate the ordinary.
These are stories of people who struggle every day to work, to move from place to place, to survive, and who tell us that there are other sorts of trophies to be won.

Michaël Zumstein (b. 1970, Bagneux, France) is a Franco-Swiss artist. He now has more than 20 years of reporting experience, and his work is in the tradition of photojournalism.
