Sexual Fantasies challenges the conventional, colonial and patriarchal ways of representing women and their bodies through photography. On the one hand it attempts to change the perception of female Arab bodies by shifting the narrative from pain to resistance. On the other hand, while the female body – whether identified as cis, trans, or gender queer – has historically been portrayed mainly through the male gaze, in this collaborative work, women are talking about their own desires. Through conversations and images, the people involved are creating a universe in which they can exteriorize their thoughts and communicate with the viewer.
