In the Amazon rainforest, illegal drug production and associated organized criminal trade have continued to expand. In the heart of the Valle de los ríos Apurímac, where the remains of the terrorist group Shining Path are established, the drug is produced and packed in order to be flown out using the makeshift landing strips.
Montalvo Gray has followed the Peruvian military as they travel to blow up these clandestine airstrips, in a campaign to make them unusable. The explosions embody the decisive moment in which a land is shaken, transformed.
