In the Amazon rainforest, illegal drug production and associated organized criminal trade have continued to expand. In the heart of a valley near the rivers Apurímac, Ene and Mantaro, where the remains of the terrorist group Shining Path are established, the drug is produced and packed in order to be flown out using makeshift landing strips.
Montalvo Gray has followed the Peruvian military as they travel to blow up these clandestine airstrips in a campaign to make them unusable. The explosions embody the decisive moment in which a land is shaken, transformed.
