How does one break a family and social taboo? Mika Sperling answers this question in I Have Done Nothing Wrong. Shaping a visceral investigation into the dynamics of family abuse, silence, and memory, she brings to light the crimes committed by the grandfather during her childhood and adolescence. The project develops through three series: photographs taken along the physical and emotional journey with her daughter, from her childhood home to that of her abuser; cut-out images from the family archive, which she subjects to a gesture that combines care and vindication; finally, a sort of theatrical pièce, with which she stages an imaginary posthumous confrontation between the perpetrator and the victim. These three levels overlap to create a complex dialogue between vulnerability and determination.
