According to the rules imposed by the Government, non-essential Italian economic activities were halted during the emergency by COVID-19. Those considered non-strategic reacted with resourcefulness and a spirit of solidarity, making themselves available to be reinvented and to support the common effort. Mattia Balsamini photographs the Italian excellences that have chosen sudden industrial reconversions, emergency production, volunteer workers who have accepted the risk of making closed factories live to create sanitizing gels, masks, protective visors, oxygen cylinders and respirators.
Mattia Balsamini (1987, Pordenone, Italy) teaches photography at the Interactive Media Master for Interior Design of the IUAV University of Venice. Currently represented by Contrasto, he focuses his attention on issues related to the territory of origin, the concept of home and work as a factor of identity of man.
