What are the effects of being born of genocide rape? And how are mothers that survived brutal violence suffering, dealing with the difficulties and complexities of their destiny?
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the genocide (April 2019), Torgovnik returned to Rwanda to take pictures to some of the families he met 12 years ago while he was working on an extensive project documenting the stories of women that were raped as a weaponof war.
Jonathan Torgovnik (Tel Aviv, Israel, 1969) is an award-winning photographer, Emmy Award nominated filmmaker and educator. He is currently based in South Africa and he co-founded the NGO Foundation Rwanda.( www.foundationrwanda.org).
