The border I am. With Médecins Sans Frontières: journey, waiting and care.
An exploration that follows the footsteps of those arriving in Italy from the Slovenian border, after the long journey along the Balkan route. The Karst plateau, the stone, and the warehouses of the port of Trieste become places marked by passage and waiting, where the border seems to continue to exist even after arrival, in tired bodies, wounds, and uncertainty. Within this void, a civil society network is taking shape, made up of volunteers, associations, and humanitarian organizations that daily build concrete and supportive responses, transforming transit points into spaces for listening, care, and connection. Médecins Sans Frontières also operates in this context with the HOPE social-healthcare help desk, which, through orientation and support to health services for those living in extremely precarious conditions, reaffirms the principle that the right to health must also exist in border areas.
The project thus brings together travel and borders with human relationships born from gestures of care, presence, and solidarity capable, at least for a moment, of dissolving the border itself.
