Marco P. Valli and Luca Santese, members of the Italian photography collective Cesura, documented the main events related to the political changes that took place in Italy in 2018 following the March 4 elections and the formation of the coalition between the Five Star Movement and the League.
Realpolitik is a project divided into five volumes: Boys Boys Boys (I and II editions), Popolopopolo, Lega Nord Party, and MoVimento Lento.
With a brutal and merciless gaze, the faces and scenes captured by the two authors are almost distorted by the flash, revealing their disturbing and caricatural features.
With an approach that goes beyond simple documentation of the facts, Valli and Santese present their satirical critique of Italian politics.

Bio

Luca Santese (1985, Italy) worked as an assistant in Alex Majoli’s studio and co-founded Cesura in 2008. His work has been published in various publications and exhibited in Europe, Russia, and the United States.
Marco P. Valli (1989, Italy) is an Italian photographer. His work has been published in national and international magazines and exhibited in Italy. He creates individual and collective projects focusing on documentary photography and artistic research.
