Festival

Cortona On The Move, the international photography festival, was founded in 2011 by the cultural association Associazione Culturale ONTHEMOVE.

Since its inception, Cortona On The Move has supported contemporary documentary photography, embracing the spirit of its name, “On The Move”: a festival that celebrates curiosity, observation, and engagement with a world in transformation, as well as the evolution of the language and codes of this expressive medium.

Cortona On The Move is much more than an exhibition platform; it is a center for cultural production that promotes a critical and plural reflection on the present and explores its complexity through the perspectives of contemporary artists.

During the festival, events and photographic exhibitions animate the medieval town of Cortona, enhancing its artistic heritage, including the Fortezza del Girifalco, a Medici-era fortress overlooking the town, as well as historic palaces and evocative open spaces.

From 2011 to 2021, the festival was directed by Antonio Carloni, co-founder of ONTHEMOVE and the festival.
